ABOUT THE ARTIST

My name is Valerie DeCoy- 30 year-old artist, wife and mother in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I specialize in portraiture and illustration and my favorite media are inks, gouache and soft pastels.

I am a lover of expressive forms, the human body, animals, landscapes and things that melt your heart. I am comfortably practicing portraiture as I love seeing the genuine smile on a client's face from capturing a beloved pet or loved one on paper.

I am still searching for my "brand" as a fine artist. I want to find a way to integrate my personality, feelings, and struggles into my art as I continue to explore different kinds of imagery apart from portraiture but for now, I am happy to keep the spirit of adventure and exploration alive as I grow as an artist and mom of two little ones.
